4 Pines was born over a decade ago from a casual conversation between father and son, post surf, who simply wanted an exceptional beer, but options were limited. It presented the wider family an opportunity to do something together; to build a small brewpub, introduce others to an exceptional beer and brewpub experience they had never seen before, build a little community where all were welcome and make some friends along the way.
4 Pines, was and continues to be built on throwing convention out the window, using alternative methods to measure success and having fun while we do it. We have learnt even the smallest of businesses can change the game and for us, it’s about leading in and being known for Employee Culture, Customer Experience, Innovation, Environmental & Social Responsibility and Exceptional Beer.
This innocent conversation that evolved into a brewpub became the foundation of a lifelong journey with family, friends and the community to restore the fun in people’s lives and forever challenge what the world imagines business should be. From here, we will keep on doing what we know best, to create, share and perpetuate Australia’s leading locally famous and globally celebrated beer company.
From day one we wanted to offer people great taste sensations through variety in their beer, quality craftsmanship, natural ingredients and traditional, time honoured techniques, something we felt we were missing locally and something we wanted to drink and that our mates would be proud of. And that same love, care and attention still goes into every brew, only now more beer lovers get to enjoy it!
While we have outgrown our 500 litre Manly Brewpub microbrewery, it remains an integral part of the 4 Pines engine room, producing all of our small batch Keller Door range and new recipe trials.
We’ve taken home many awards for our beers over the years. We love the recognition but truth is that medals and accolades only tell half the story. We believe that an exceptional beer is one that gives you all that you expect of it. We want it to be tasty and importantly; tasty every time.
Our beers are proudly expensive to make, sourcing the best ingredients irrespective of cost. We give our beer all the time in the world to ferment and condition. We combine artistry and science of brewing, the love and attention of making beers by hand, whilst deploying the backdrop of extreme attention to detail and QC through well-considered beer lab and ongoing tasting all to ensure the specifications of our beer are exactly where they need to be.
Love is why brewers become brewers in the first place. Love is why our brewers run the brewery (not finance, not marketing). Love is why we use the best (irrespective of cost) ingredients possible for all of our beers. Love is why we dry hop certain beers for longer, why we let beers rest for that extra day or two to become perfect. Love is what brings the whole beer and the experience of that beer together. Without love you just rely on machines. You need love to make really really good beer and that’s why it’s the fifth ingredient.
We brew beer because we love beer. Loving beer makes it easy to show all your mates that you love them too.
It’s important to us to make a positive impact on the communities we love, and quality beer for years to come depends on treating your planet right, like your best mates, and addressing climate change.
Save the Pines is our unique program, devoted to environmental and social responsibility company-wide.
It’s all about where we are, who we’re with and how much we love our world, so that they fun we have today ifs still on offer when we’re old and grey.
