We're a brewery born in Manly and enjoyed everywhere.
4 Pines was born following a post-surf chat between Jaron and his dad Steve. This was back in ’06. A whole lot has happened since we first opened our microbrewery in Manly but some things will never change, we continue to make quality, award winning beers that we want to drink and that our mates are proud of, & our commitment to using business as a force for good is as strong today as it was in the beginning, we’re on a continuous journey to Brew Better, considering our people, our planet & our community.
During World War II, four pine trees were removed from the southern end of the promenade on Manly’s foreshore. in their place, machine gun emplacements were installed.
We love trees - especially the beautiful pines that line our local beach. So, in honour of the four that got the chop, we named our brewery after them.
As each year goes on, we’re learning new ways to be a more sustainable and community-minded company. We’re B-Corp certified, proud ‘1% for the Planet’ members and certified by ‘Great Places to Work Australia’. These initiatives require us to meet comprehensive accountability, transparency, and performance standards.
We are on a lifelong journey with family, friends and the community to restore the fun in people’s lives and forever challenge what the world imagines business should be.
What beers do we brew? We make beer that we want to drink and that our mates would be proud of. We’ve got all kinds of beers for all kinds of folks, from our core range crowd pleasers to our limited release boundary pushers to our barrel aged chin scratchers. We’re a highly accredited brewery with a host of award-winning beers we couldn’t be more proud of.
Good beer needs good people; therefore, we make sure that our people are happy, safe, and growing while nurturing and creating warm and welcoming relationships with the wider community. We are committed to helping our people be the best they can and helping communities stay resilient.When we talk about our people, we mean everyone that works at 4 Pines: our casual, temporary, full, and part time people.
We’re not just about making beer for people to enjoy – although people tell us we do a pretty good job of it, 4 PINES is about a whole lot more than that.
4 Pines Brewing Co. was born of Hospitality. In 2008, the Mitchell family had just one brewpub in Manly. The experience of their customers was the centre of the 4 Pines universe; genuine, warm, engaged service, a delicious feed & a cracking pint of lovingly crafted beer was the start, middle & end of everything that they cared about. Over the subsequent years a great deal has grown out from that centre (AIBA Champion Large brewery, top 50 GPTW & B Corp + best for the environment award – to name a few), but we’ve never lost sight of where we began or underestimated how far an immersive, customer focussed hospitality experience can take you. Hospitality is the roots of everything that is great about 4 PINES. It’s our DNA & it doesn’t get any more important than that.
All of our beers start their days in one of these breweries around Australia. Once they are old enough to spread their wings and fly they are scaled up and made available to the masses. Its always nice to remember where you came from.
